Adaptive Cycling for Stroke Survivors: Spokes Fighting Strokes Event in Cheyenne
- May 18
- 2 min read

This Sunday, May 24th, stroke survivors, caregivers, and community members have a special opportunity to experience adaptive cycling up close.
Dan Zimmerman, founder of Spokes Fighting Strokes, will be in Cheyenne to share his survivor story and offer hands‑on access to a variety of adaptive trikes designed for stroke and brain‑injury recovery.
For those of us here in Colorado, this is an easy drive and a rare chance to connect with Dan in person. His work has inspired survivors across the country — not just because of the equipment, but because he is a survivor who rebuilt his life one mile at a time. His message is simple: movement is possible, confidence is possible, and joy is possible.

Why Adaptive Cycling Matters
Adaptive trikes aren’t just equipment — they’re a pathway back to strength, balance, and independence. Survivors often describe their first ride as the moment they felt “capable” again. Dan’s clinics create a safe, encouraging space to try something new, ask questions, and see what’s possible after stroke. Whether you’re a survivor, caregiver, clinician, or simply someone who believes in accessible recovery, this is a meaningful event to attend.

I’m excited to see this kind of survivor‑centered programming happening so close to Colorado. If you make the trip, you’ll walk away inspired — and maybe even ready to ride.
